What You Need to Know!

IMPORTANT RACE DAY INFORMATION

Packet Pickup: Occurs on race day starting at 6:30 AM ONLY (large tent) - Saturday, September 7, 2024.

You will get your packet on race day. To expedite the process, please:

  • Know your event: Are you doing the Triathlon or the Duathlon Short or Long Course

  • Know your bib number: You will get this via email on Friday from Gleason Timing

  • Know if you are racing independently or as a relay 

When you arrive onsite your *packets will be sorted by bib number, separated out by Triathlon, Duathlon short course, Duathlon long course under the large tent in the expo area, adjacent to the transition area. You will retrieve your packet, colored swim cap (TRI only), and race shirt, then proceed to transition to place your bibs and stickers on your gear. 

*Packets include: bib, bike/helmet sticker, and timing chip w/ankle strap.


SWIM START (TRIATHLETES)

We recommend that all triathletes bring flip flops for the short walk from the transition area to the swim start and back to transition. The walk to the swim beach will be on dirt terrain (sand, prairie grass, concrete), and we want the jog/walk to be as comfortable as possible.

ALL ATHLETES

Headphones and/or ear buds will NOT be allowed on the bike course. Bike helmets are REQUIRED to participate. Please also remember to dismount bikes prior to entering into transition area.

*Note you will be receiving a final confirmation email from Gleason Timing by no later than 12:00 PM on Friday, September 6, 2024, with bib and wave assignment, and other important race day information. Please keep an eye out for this email (if you don't see it please double check junk or spam inboxes).

TRANSITION OPENS AT 6:30 AM

  • All athletes must have their bikes racked in the transition area before the first wave begins at 8:00 AM.

  • Transition Area is FOR ATHLETES ONLY.

  • Spectators are not allowed in the Transition Area. No exceptions.

Race Waves/Start Times

Your start time will be included in the bib assignment email coming from Gleason Timing. Please know your start time and wave number.

You will rack your bike by wave number: Racks are first come first serve only. Please be considerate of other athletes when racking and placing your gear. Each athlete receives about 2-feet of space.

Wave Timing
Waves will go in the following order, starting at 8:00 AM.

  • 7:30 AM - Athletes begin to gather at water, Duathlon at start line.

  • 7:57 AM - Survivor wave of TRI starts

  • 8:00 AM - 1st wave (Elite) of TRI and DU long course starts

  • 8:03 AM - 2nd wave of TRI and DU short course starts

  • 8:06 AM - 3rd wave of TRI starts

  • 8:09 AM - 4th wave of TRI starts

  • 8:11 AM - Final wave of TRI starts

Swim Buddies are available for anyone who feels the need to have someone out in the water with them. They will be waiting for you at the start of each wave and will be wearing bright green swim caps. No reservations are needed. 

Leaving the Race Site: we have configured the post-race party to allow you to leave the race site any time after you've finished. 

BIKE & RUN COURSES 

The bike and run courses for both the duathlon and triathlon will be marked with signage ONLY. Please be familiar with the route and BE AWARE THAT THE COURSES ARE OPEN TO BOTH VEHICLE AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC. Athletes must follow standard rules of the road. Review course map here

  • Be courteous, share the road and obey all traffic laws, signs, and signals.

  • Ride & run on the right side of the road, unless:

    • you are preparing to make a left turn, or

    • you are overtaking slow-moving participants.

  • When passing let other riders and runners know you are passing on the left.

  • Ride single file to allow vehicles to pass.

  • Yield to pedestrians on pathways and roadways.

  • Headphones and/or ear buds will NOT be allowed on the bike course.

  • Please remember to dismount bikes prior to entering into transition area.

ATHLETE RULES

  • No helmet. No race. 

  • Absolutely NO markings in the Transition Area or on the courses, including paint, chalk, soap, tape, etc.

  • No helmet. No race.

  • Cyclists and runners MUST yield to emergency vehicles at all times during the event.

  • No helmet. No race...ok, we think you get it :-)

  • Triathletes BRING flip flops for the walk from transition to swim beach.

  • Cyclists/Runners, please remember to ride/run on the right and pass on the left.  Please ride in a single file line.

  • No passing over the median unless otherwise directed by course officials.

  • Headphones and/or ear buds will NOT be allowed on the bike course. 

  • Remember to dismount bikes prior to entering into the transition area. 

SPECTATORS

  • Be sure your supporters bring plenty to eat and drink, sunscreen, sun hats, diapers, sunglasses and/or anything else to keep them comfortable at the race site. There is no food available at the park for spectators. They can bring portable chairs and umbrellas. There is minimal shade, and your supporters will be there for several hours.

  • Dogs are NOT ALLOWED on the event site.

  • The Transition Area is FOR ATHLETES ONLY. Spectators are not allowed in the Transition Area.  No exceptions.

  • Triathlon is a serious sport requiring concentration. Please do not distract athletes by sticking your hands or anything else across the white fencing. 

  • Spectators must stay off the racecourse at all times.

  • Please do not throw debris or any other materials on the course. There are plenty of garbage receptacles, please use them.

  • Spectators must obey course marshals, volunteers (who will be wearing colored volunteer t-shirts), other race officials, and yield to emergency vehicles at all times.
