New and exciting changes coming to Tri for the Cure

It has been an honor and awe-inspiring to watch the participants of the Tri for the Cure since its inception 17 years ago. In that time, we have seen more than 30,000 athletes experience a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie that has been the hallmark of this event. From conversations with athletes, post-event celebrations, and stories, we have heard the experience of completing the Tri for the Cure has been life-changing for so many. We have strived to continually improve the event and make it rewarding, meaningful, and of course, fun for each participant. We take immense pride in seeing it become a staple in the community, and thank you for the role you played in raising more than $1.7 million for women’s health in Colorado.

Year after year, we receive consistent feedback that the swim portion of the event posed one of the biggest challenges. From access to a pool to anxiety to cost, we realize the swim portion is becoming a hurdle for athletes.

We are very excited to announce that we have found a solution for that! Beginning with the event this September 11, you have the choice of our traditional sprint distance triathlon OR a new duathlon (Run/Bike/Run) long and short course options. The duathlon will run concurrent to the triathlon. The duathlon short course starts with a 1-mile run, is followed by the 10-mile bike ride, and concludes with the traditional 3.1 miles (5K) run. The long course duathlon option will include a 3.1-mile run, followed by a 20-mile bike ride, and finishes with another 3.1-mile run. We will proudly remain the only triathlon and now duathlon in the state that has a course that is completely closed to traffic.

In addition to the new two-course event, we have decided to refresh the name to better represent the options available to athletes. That said we are proud to rebrand SheSprints | Choose your Path, Race for all women.

We will be limiting the field for both events, so we have no more than 800 participants on the event day. Please join us for this inaugural year and share in the celebration and spirit of this women’s only event.

We are more excited than ever to see you at SheSprints in September!
